We are all the same.

17th September 2010

We are all the same.

I have noted a lot of visitors recently paying attention to a quote by his holiness the Dalai Lama XIV about everyone being the same (http://www.buddhaquotes.co.uk/Buddha-Quotes/Whether-one-is-rich-or-poor/). The quote reads as follows:

"Whether one is rich or poor, educated or illiterate, religious or non-believing, man or woman, black, white, or brown, we are all the same.

Physically, emotionally, and mentally, we are all equal.

We all share basic needs for food, shelter, safety, and love.

We all aspire to happiness and we all shun suffering.

Each of us has hopes, worries, fears, and dreams.

Each of us wants the best for our family and loved ones.

We all experience pain when we suffer loss and joy when we achieve what we seek.

On this fundamental level, religion, ethnicity, culture, and language make no difference."

It never ceases to amaze me how much inspiration and how humbled I feel by experience and digesting these words. Sadly, from experience, not everyone around the World can digest such words and still see barriers between people based on Colour of skin, Love, Sex, Hopes, Worries and Financial Status. One thing is for sure though, the World appears a lot more tolerant of one and another and less tolerant of wrong doing than it ever has in Human history, that I am thankful for.
